Wheelchair made by MeyraThe German company Meyra – one of the world’s most renowned wheelchair
manufacturers and rehabilitation equipment suppliers – verifies the quality of wheelchair components using dimensioning tools. Until now, these parts were made using traditional manufacturing methods on a CNC machine. The company has recently decided to verify the possibilities of 3D printing technology.

The company’s goal is to produce elements as accurate as possible to ensure that all parts of a wheelchair perfectly fit together. Therefore, the dimension verification phase is so important. At this stage of manufacture, parts that do not meet specified diameter or bending angle standards are discarded. As a result, only elements that meet all the criteria, including dimensions, are included in the final assembly.

Thanks to the very high 3D printing precision, it was possible to produce dimentioning tools in additive manufacturing technology. For the highest dimension accuracy, parts are made using PET-G-32.

Prior to making the final decision to buy a 3D printer, Meyra is verifying the effectiveness of 3D printing solutions in its production plant in Germany.
